After an archeology expedition gone wrong, Lis Santiago is assigned a desk job at The Library, an underground archive dedicated to the history and study of supernatural creatures. Run by humans, the joke about The Library is that it’s operated by people who know everything about magic… except how to use it. Lis is no exception, and after three years, she’s finally accepted her new, albeit lackluster, career. Then a request is made Supernatural creatures in the area have gone missing, and the Alpha from the local werewolf pack wants a Librarian to aid in the investigation. But he doesn’t want just any Librarian, he wants Lis. Accepting means time away from her desk, but it also means having to be paired up with old partner Jonas Highet, who left her waiting for him in Italy five years ago. This isn’t the reunion she had in mind, but when the Alpha calls, it’s hard to say no. Lis quickly wishes she had. The Alpha already has a suspect, he just needs Lis to convict him… even if there’s no proof he’s guilty. But the Alpha’s sister thinks her brother’s scapegoat- a wolf named Mickey Kaiser- is innocent, and she wants Lis to prove it. Caught between a pair of siblings known for their cunning ways, Lis is going to have to find out what’s so special about Mickey Kaiser, while simultaneously keeping Jonas from killing the man. And just when Lis starts dreaming about her desk job, the first body is found. It’s unlike anything Lis has seen before.

Overall, I enjoyed reading this book. This book had a lot of interesting paranormal elements that I have never read about before. That added to the wonderful mystery of the book. The mystery that Lis and Jonas were trying to solve definitely kept me on my toes the entire book. I also really enjoyed many of the characters in the book. I especially enjoyed the relationship between Kit and Lis.

This book had hints of romance, but it is quite minimal. There were no scenes that made me want to swoon, but I think there will be more romance development in the next books. I felt like I could feel the romance building in this book, and it will slowly be shown throughout the next book. The interesting storyline kept me hooked even though there was not a lot of romance.

What I did not like about this book was that I almost felt like I was reading a sequel for a good majority of the book. The history between Lis and Jonas was not revealed until the end of the book, which was quite frustrating. Lis' history was also not explained until later in the book. I just felt like there were things in the book that the author had assumed I already knew about the characters, but I didn't. Besides that, this book was a fun read. It kept me entertained, and I was disappointed when it was over. The book ended on a cliffhanger, and I cannot wait to read the next book. I hope the next book comes out soon, because I am excited to see what is next for Lis and her friends.

Howl Brittney Dussault
Review from jeannie zelos book reviews
Genre Paranormal romance
My first novel from Brittney so I wasn’t sure what to expect. It’s a fairly solid description though, and I do like shifters and mysteries, with a side of romance.
Lis, working in the Library after a tragedy on her last field trip, is bored. Nothing seems to happen there. Then she gets requested for help in an investigation into missing shifters. That turns everything upside down, with a mystery to solve of who’s behind the disappearance, and why, and it brings Lis, her former work partner Jonas, and friends Shaz and Kit into serious danger. Jonas has some old history with Lis – it’s frequently alluded to, but I found it frustrating not knowing what happened between them til near the end. The Alpha who’s requested her aid seems to just want her to rubberstamp a conviction of a local disliked wolf. His sister though says he’s innocent and wants Lis to look more, but it seems everyone has alternative motives and poor Lis is working in the dark – very dangerous. Mickey ( who prefers to be called Mick) quietly finds Lis, and there’s an attraction between them right from the start. She has some special talents that often help, but using them she can’t discover whether he is guilty or innocent – she needs to trust him when he says its not him. Her instinct says he’s being set up.The further she investigates the more mysteries come out, along with some long held secrets that affect not only members of the Pack, but her friend Kit, a human/fox Kitsune stuck in a half form, and Lis herself.
I really enjoyed this book. There were things I found frustrating such as Lis’ history, her friendship with Shaz and relationship with Jonas, and Kit’s problems that made me think maybe I was reading a second book in a series, but I can’t find anything earlier. I think the characters here are solid, and I’d be happy to read more adventures featuring them. Its fun trying to work out who is behind the missing shifters, and why, and there are some twists that I didn’t see coming. Its not a deep, dark mystery, not one that will keep you up late at night, nor a romance make your heart race, but a solid, entertaining, well written story that’s fun to while away a couple of hours.
Stars Four – a fun read.

I have always been a huge fan of paranormal books!! This book is no different! This book follows Lis Santiago who works at The Library that is all about the supernatural. The library is run by humans like Lis and the supernaturals are not allowed in. Except for the dangerous ones that are only in the basement that nobody ever goes in. Lis has been a librarian for 3yrs since her last mission ended with her only Lis making it out alive.

Now, Lis is being summoned by The Alpha male wolf. There has been wolves, foxes and vampires gone missing. Now, a wolf has been killed and Alpha Kazarian is calling Lis. Lis has a way of seeing inside people. She knows everything your thinking and feeling. It's why nobody lets Lis touch them. Except for Kit. Kit is a human/fox Kitsune stuck in a half form. She spends her time with Lis in the library hidden. They only have each other.

Lis figures out very quickly that Alpha Kazarian wants her to say it was the outcast the mutt of the pack Mickey. Lis can see instantly it's a set up but doesn't say anything. Lis gets partnered with Jonas Highet. They have a past but we're really not sure. Before they can really get started she gets summoned to the Alpha Female. The Alpha Female Inez is Kazarian's sister & Jonas' mother. Unlike the Alpha, Inez doesn't think Mickey is guilty.

Lis & Jonas start trying to figure out what's going on. They have help from Kit and Shaz another wolf who is a longtime friend of Lis. When Mickey who wants to go by Mick finds Lis things change. It's obvious to Lis that he's not the killer. But, she has a lot of questions still. This is definitely not an easy or safe case. All of them must hurry because the killer is on a mission.

There was so many secrets, lies and back stories that at times I couldn't keep up. Most of the time it was because it was never explained. Or it was explained at the end. Lis was attracted to both Jonas and Mick. That was frustrating at times as well. The constant back & forth between the Alpha siblings didn't bother me as much because that's what siblings do.

Howl was def fast paced and always kept you wondering. I really, really am hoping there will be a book 2. There can seriously be another book with the way this one ended. Lis, Mick & Kit I loved!! I feel like their stories are just beginning. Especially Lis!! Shaz & Jonas as well. I'd love to see where they're headed as well!!
